on dreams

“Dream dreams

For if dreams die

Life is a broken-winged bird

That cannot fly.”

Dreams give life.

They help us look within,

They help us look outside ourselves,

They take what is deep in the soul

And create a future

That draws us to itself.

In systems theory, this energy that “draws” us is called “creative tension”.

We can achieve nothing that we have not first envisioned.

This is the essence of a dream.

This is the essentialness of the dream.

The danger of the dream is this. Because they are so vital to robust living, I tend to hold tightly to my dreams, clenching them, hoping, and yearning for their fruition.

What we forget so often is our sphere of control. It is limited. Our dreams come true as life allows them to unfold. Synchronicity, grace, divine intention all play a vital part in their fruition. The timing is not in our hands. What is in our hands is that we dream and keep dreaming. With open hands, we raise precious dreams to the skies . . . to the open hands of a waiting God.

It is there that dreams rest as grace unfolds the future.

It is there that we rest as we watch another miracle bloom.

Honor your dreams for enfolded within each dream is a possible future ready to unfold.

All people dream, but not equally.

Those who dream by night

in the dusty recesses of their mind

wake in the day to find that it was vanity.

But the dreamers of the day

are dangerous people,

for they may act their dream with open eyes

to make it possible.

~ T. E. Lawrence (1888-1935)

They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.

~ Edgar Allen Poe

If you can imagine it you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.

~ William Arthur Ward
